SWITZERLAND

Switzerland can often get overlooked as a destination for a vacation, it os mostly a ski destination however having visited the country frequently in both summer and winter seasons, it makes for a very pleasant visit.

It is evident the country is extremely clean and I really felt a noticeable difference with the clean fresh air and the spectacular pure scenery.

I have visited Geneva located on the french speaking side many times now and for a short break, I would recommend it.

Where to stay: For a short city trip, I would recommend to stay by the lake, Lac Leman. It is a beautiful view to wake up to and it is within walking distance into the town to the cafes, shops and restaurants. It is also a peaceful promenade in the evenings too.

What to do: One very unique highlight for me for this place was visiting the United Nations, Switzerland has long been known to be a neutral country and I really feel with current global circumstances and even within our own society, there is something very special about this place. I would highly recommend Téléphérique du Salève cable cars, the view is stunning and there are some great walks through the woodland with some cosy Swiss cafes with open log fires to take in the views.

Where to eat: The cuisine in Switzerland is elegant, delicious and also expensive! It is true, it can be a pricey place however I would say you will not be disappointed with a treat or two here from the cafes and pastries stores to some of the best french cuisines amongst a good healthy world selection of places. Restaurant Les Jardins du Léman lI Lago are amongst many fantastic choices in Geneva and of course be sure to sample and buy the BEST chocolate, Swiss Chocolate really has a taste like no other!
